Seaweeds are one of the most nutritionally dense plants on the planet, and also the most abundant source of minerals in the plant kingdom as they have access to all the nutrients in the ocean. Scientifically described as “macro-algae”, seaweeds are evolutionary miracles. Indeed, they are the ocean’s superfoods. Some of the most ancient forms of multi-cellular life, these organisms have survived through the eons- converting sunlight into abundant nutrition for thousands of other species that have come and gone.

Bioavailable

The vitamins and minerals in seaweeds are highly bioavailable, meaning our bodies absorb them more readily than pill-based nutritional supplements. That’s great news, because seaweeds are vitamin and mineral rich. Some seaweeds can contain up to 10 times more calcium than milk and 8 times as much as beef.

Seaweeds can also improve the health of our oceans by absorbing carbon dioxide and helping to reduce acidification.We believe seaweed farming can reduce the world’s dependence on freshwater for food production, and help shift our food system towards renewables.

Detoxifying

They are rich in chlorophyll (the pigment that makes some seaweeds green) which is a powerful, natural detoxifier that helps to draw out waste products. Seaweeds can also play a role in boosting weight loss and deterring cellulite build-up. Their naturally high concentration of iodine helps to stimulate the thyroid gland, which is responsible for maintaining a healthy metabolism.

Antioxidants

Seaweeds contain lignans (naturally occurring chemical compounds) which have anti-inflammatory properties. The chemical composition of seaweeds is so close to human blood plasma that they are excellent at regulating and purifying our blood.

All of our seasonings and pastas are infused with the highest quality seaweed on the market, naturally grown on our own ocean-adjacent, on-shore farms in the pristine waters of the Pacific Ocean. We use our magical seaweed farming powers for good, to reduce the world’s dependence on freshwater food production, shift our food system towards renewables and de-acidify the ocean. When seaweed is responsibly harvested, it’s not only delicious and incredibly nutritious, but it also has the power to literally change our climate equation.

Celebrate Seaweed

In Baja California—the renowned gastronomic and food growing region and the Wine Capital of Mexico—we started by partnering with the local University to grow our seaweed outdoors in a dynamic biological environment, learning from renowned seaweed experts and grad students alike. We’ve taken all that expertise and are thrilled to now be operating our very own onshore farm. In Alaska, we partner with entrepreneurial fishermen and local experts to grow seaweed in some of the most pristine ocean waters on earth.

We take our time to thoughtfully cultivate the finest seaweed in triple filtered seawater, plus sunlight and love. Unlike land-based vegetables, our seaweed requires no fresh water to grow or process. We carefully monitor and control the growing environment, then harvest and dry our seaweed naturally, using a proprietary process that uses no solvents or other chemicals.
